Rhythmic Jam with the Solar 42F (Early Access)

Hi guys,

in an earlier Blogpost, I talked about my summer setup. Well. I decided to slim it down and focus on one instrument - that strategy worked well with my previous liveset based on the Lyra-8. The main benefit for me is that I will learn this instrument much faster than having other gear in the setup I need to handle. So, my next liveset will be Solar 42F only - with a little addition: I added the BigSky Reverb so i can use a nice Delay on the Solar followed by a huge reverb (the Solar has actually 2 effect slots but the knobs change both at once which is a bummer ... so i went the complicated but save route).

"Here and Now" is the title of my upcoming performance. I decided to keep the setup minimalistic and I will play it only with the Solar 42F,…

My Experience with Vinyl on Demand VoD Service

Here are some insights with "Elastic Stage", a Vinyl on Demand Service that I used for my latest album. I shared these on Discord in another group I am member, but the thread content is vanishing fast and I wanted to keep this without further editing - its just pasted from the other forum.

First of all, Elastic Stage is a Distributor as far as I understood. The release gets a EAN number and the tracks get their own ISRC numbers, but you can put in existing numbers too so you can re-release older albums on ES.

The workflow is pretty straightforward - you enter Metadata, upload tracks and Artwork files, for these they offer easy Templates (Illustrator or PDF format). After that’s done, you create your artist page and a release page, this is a bit like every other online website editor, except it includes the vinyl offering automatically.

Tip for labeling your gear

Just wanted to share this little gear tip. I was looking for a cheap solution to label my devices and cables with my name. I had it a few times they cables or adapters got lost on a table with gear of a group of musicians so I wanted to mark my stuff with sticker.

The available options at printing suppliers where a bit pricey, but luckily I stumbled across this cheap little thermo-printer. It costs 20 euro at Amazon and the stickers are customizable in their accompanying printing app.

Thought it might be helpful for some. Cheers :)

My setup for the upcoming season is finally taking shape

Today I'm showing you the setup for the coming season :)

Hello everyone :D

I hope you have a nice and relaxing Easter :D

Until now, I wasn't sure whether I would be able to play a concert with the Solar in May. But the more I look into it, the more confident I become with the device and I've decided to base my setup for 2025 on it.

If you take a look at my calendar you will see a pretty full program! I have ambient events, art performances and guest appearances in other cities. I will be playing pure ambient sessions, but at the same time I will be on the road with a 2nd liveset thats more danceable. I'll be playing locally, but will also be on the road a lot.

Sneak peek: A melodic arpeggio with Korg SQ-1 and Solar 42F

Hello guys,

once more, I've expanded my setup: I've added a little Korg SQ-1, which now enables me to effortlessly create nice and complex arpeggios in Ableton and send them to the Solar 42F's synth voices 4 & 5 using the built-in CV converter with two channels.

This is a first jam with the new device. While this track is well-prepared and the chords are finely tuned, I'm finding it increasingly chilled to create spontaneous jams with the instrument that aren't perfectly prepared.

Besides the Solar, the Soma Cosmos also plays a role here, though it's quite minor. I initially intended to use it more and develop a more prominent backdrop with it. Maybe next time.

The video is a little early access for guys until it publishes on YouTube. You can also download the audio below if you like.

Sneak peek: Dubtechno Jam with my new Setup

What´s up world!

Hope you´re having a great week so far. I´m looking forward 2 weeks of easter vacation :) Yay.

I´m slowly getting used to my new drone synth and finding ways to get it working with my other gear. As seen in my last jam, the Analog Rytm is still my favorite groovebox so I decided to keep these 2 and make it my setup for the upcoming summer shows.

This time, I composed a nice dubtechno pattern on the AR and layered sounds over it coming from the Solar 42f. That's actually a nice way of pairing these two machines and works for both ambient and more dubby tracks.

The Solar audio is routed to the inputs of the Analog Rytm - that makes a tiny (well heavy) setup and as both have excellent onboard fx I don´t need anything else (beside a sidechain effect, but honestly,…
